Travel Diary: Quebec City

I know cruises are supposed to be occasions to indulge in rich foods in unlimited quantities. I have, however, been a model of self-restraint as evidence by my choice of fruit for desert:fruit_for_desert

In actuality the food on the cruise has been a bit disappointing. On the one hand, they make a variety of fresh bread and rolls which are all spectacular. On the other hand, the meals in general are.... fine. Sometimes less than fine. In other words, we suffer terribly and are very brave.

On the other hand, we are presently berthed (docked? moored? anchored?) in Quebec City. I'm writing from a charming cafe in Old Quebec City enjoying delicious crepes. The decor is in the Canadian style of "Caribou and Coffee Cups:" baguette_and_chocolate

Quebec City is a beautiful city, filled with spectacular buildings that are quite old by North American standards. I took no pictures of them. We arrived on a day when it was 40F (4.4C), raining heavily with driving wind. While we were willing to walk around and enjoy the place, stopping for pictures seemed a bit much. Here, take a look at these photos and pretend I took them.

We enjoyed our last night on the ship. We enjoyed a second concert by Breton Thunder, a Nova Scotia band that plays Celtic/Irish/Breton music:

Our efforts to convince Canada to let us stay have failed and we are now in the Quebec City airport waiting for our flight to Washington DC for a family wedding. Saying goodbye to someone cooking our food, cleaning our room, and laundering our clothes.

Anything interesting happen in the USA while we were away? Are we at war with Denmark yet?
